Last night we had the pleasure of The Nelson Shantymen playing at our church and they were amazing. We sold all 80 tickets and after we paid the Shantymen’s fee of £300 and bar costs, we made an incredible profit of £706 towards our kitchen and toilet project.
The Nelson Shantymen make very little money from their performances, I doubt they earnings even cover their petrol, as they are so many of them in the group and they all use their own cars to travel to events. They perform to help organisations like us, and so many other worthwhile charities to raise money. So it was a real honour to have them perform in our church and give us all such a great evening of entertainment.
Our next big event will be Afternoon Strawberry/Cream Tea on the 8th August 2.30pm – 5pm. No need to book just come along and join us by the Memorial Garden or in the church if it is raining, we look forward to seeing you.
