Our Strawberry Cream Tea took place on a very hot day. It was well attended and worth all the hard work collecting tables and chairs from Walpole St Peter church and our village Memorial Hall – thank you to both places. We put up gazebo to protect everyone from the strong very hot sunshine. With raffle tickets as well this event made a total of nearly £ 600.00 Our previous events this year also did very well ( Race Night £ 325.00 Craft Fair £ 366.00 Singers of Note £ 422.00 and The Nelson Shantymen £ 523.00
This might sound a lot! However, following our architects report for our five year inspection earlier this year, apart from needing an inside kitchen and toilet, there are many expensive repairs required for which we get no help from the Church of England. These repairs are estimated to come to in excess of £ 400,000 at today’s rates. Fortunately we do have a small team of people willing and able to help with grant applications. However we still need to do our bit as well in the form of our social fund raising activities, so please support us whenever you can.
