NEWS FROM ST MARGARET’S

LOOKING BACK.
If you are wondering why we need money for the church funds, the church is rather like the ‘Forth Bridge’ used to be. Continuously needing work! Last year the headstock on the second bell had to be replaced, a lot of the damage caused was due to the rain getting in through the tower windows, which are so rotten they all have to be replaced.

As well as the floor in the tower, which is so bad that the Bell Engineer actually put his foot through the floor when changing the ‘headstock’

Now that the bell ropes are fraying! They all need changing a cost of around £ 1,000.00 + VAT. All this on top of the usual running costs of the church. I have also been asked about the kitchen and toilet project. This is ongoing, with Andy (our treasurer) and I continuing applying for grants to fund the work. Thank You to everyone for every donation received, and for all the help and support you give.

HARVEST FESTIVAL. 15th September.
The auction of products, which is held at the end of the service Raised £90.00 this has been rounded up to £100.00 and will be donated to the King’s Lynn food bank.

RACE NIGHT- ‘A RACE NIGHT LIKE NO OTHER’.
We held a ‘Race Night Like No Other’ on Saturday 21st September. The Race Night was great fun and a big Thank You to Richard who brought the night’s entertainment to us.

Also Annette who moved the six dogs up and down the track.

The evening raised £278.00 which will go towards Church funds.

COFFEE MORNING FOR MACMILLAN. 26th September.
Thank you to Maureen, for all the lovely cakes and scones that she baked. Also to Bev and Sue for their lovely cakes. It was wonderful to see the church so full. We raised £154.00 which will be sent to the MacMillan Nurses.

SECOND HAND CLOTHES SALE.
Sadly the second hand clothes sale was a flop! The church was full of bargains! From lovely baby clothes to adult clothes, and shoes as well. Sadly though we only had a few visitors on the day.

However Thanks to the generous of some of the store holders and some other visitors, £32.00 was given to the church in donations.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT.

LOOKING FORWARD.

PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION. December 1st – April 30th.
By popular request we are running this competition again, widening the area for photographers to include Clenchwarton and King’s Lynn, which will provide plenty of scope for all photographers out there! The photos submitted last year were all of a very high standard so I look forward to seeing them all again.

The competition starts on December 1st and runs until April 30th by which time all photos must have been submitted. Two independent judges will judge the photos.

There are three categories: under 11 years, 12 – 17years and 18years upwards. Photos can be taken on phones or cameras and must be printed out before submission (10”x8”).

The full set of rules are on the reverse of the entry forms which will be in the church by the end of November. There will be prizes for each category.

So – get your thinking caps on. Where is the best place to get that’ photo, how will the light affect my subject(!!)etc? Happy Snapping.
