The church bells at St Margaret’s have been quite for some time, this has been due to not having enough bell ringers to ring at our church. However we now have some new people learning to ring under Peter’s guidance at Terrington St Clements Church, and they are all doing very well.
in fact we could have rung for our Christingle Service, the reason we chose not to is just before Christmas we had our bells serviced to make sure that they were safe to ring. Our bells when down ? are positioned only about a foot of the belfry floor. This makes them very difficult to check inside, so Neil the bell inspector had to take a photograph with his phone to check inside them. When he did we could see that the inside of the bells were full with Peacock Butterflies which were hibernating, so for this reason we have decided to wait until the spring when the weather has warm up and the butterflies have left the bell tower to begin ringing the bells.
If you are interested in learning how to ring we are a very friendly group who meet at Terrington St Clements every Monday for a practice, please come along and join us.
