We had a hilarious Race Night at our church, where people found themselves shouting for wooden racing dogs, and throwing huge spongy dice to see how far their dog would ‘run’. This event raised a magnificent £ 500.00. Make sure you don’t miss out on this great evening next time!
Our photo competition came to an end at the end of April. The results were announced at the photograph display on the 17th May and the winning photographs have been displayed in the Village magazine. Thank you to everyone who entered and to all who came to admire the display of photos.
During June we had two very different events, both which raised an astonishing amount of money for two different charities. First there was a talk by Pauline Alien, administrator of the very small charity ‘Let The Children Live’. This is a charity that St Margaret’s have been supporting for many years, Pauline gave a very interesting and at times quite emotional talk about the street children in Medellin, Columbia.
The collection at the talk raised over £ 200.00 (including a donation of £ 50.00 from church funds). The full story of the children can be found in July issue of Clenchwarton Village News.
Then on the 14th June ‘Singers of Note’ made a welcome return to our church. The church was packed and the concert was compered by our own Andy Taylor, in his own inimitable style, giving some history to each number and bringing the whole concert together with lots of humour. The concert raised a fantastic £ 766.00 for the church and £ 474.00 for the choir, which helps pay for the musicians, the sheet music and rehearsal hall.
The Open Gardens was on the 5th July and raised £ 275.00 for the church. We had eleven private gardens open to the public, all different sizes and styles. A Big Thank You to all those who opened their garden for us and to those of you who supported the event, either by helping with the refreshment at the church or by coming along a visiting the gardens.
