In August we had a very successful Afternoon/Strawberry Cream Tea; so successful, we had a lovely problem – we ran out of chairs, in spite of borrowing 40 from our friends at Walpole St Peter church. People were sitting on the memorial garden church bench, picnicking on the grass and sitting with strangers, who is soon became friends. We bought the strawberries from the local fruit picking company at Walpole St Andrew, and the general consensus was that they were delicious. Our patrons came from not only Clenchwarton, but far and wide – West Winch, Upwell, West Lynn, Wisbech, Walpole St Peter and King’s Lynn. People arrived – and stayed for the whole afternoon. It was wonderful to hear the buzz of conversation and for people to say afterwards “It was a lovely afternoon” “wonderful afternoon”; etc. The sun shone for us and the event made an amazing £ 541. Thanks must go to the amazing team who worked solidly all afternoon, preparing scones and strawberries, making teas and coffees, selling raffle tickets, not forgetting the lovely people washing up. A big Thank You to everyone who came and supported the event.
